Many General Engineering and Structural grades come close to Quench and Tempering, Carburizing or Nitriding grades. It is from this versatility these grades are called General Engineering and Structural grades and are regulated by standards in most countries. Within EU many of the Structural grades has a S as Prefix and the Engineering Grades an E,  followed by the Yield strength, eg S235, S355, E470, E520 etc.

These Standards do then also regulate shapes, sizes, chemical composition, mechanical properties such as strengths, storage practices, etc.

These steel are produced by all Ovako mills and come in different executions such as bar, tube and rings. General Engineering and Structural steel is also base for our hard-chrome plated products, as well as the standard Hollow bar program in Ovako 280.
